Flite wins two Red Dot Design Awards in 2025
Flite proudly announces that they are recipients of two prestigious Red Dots: one for ULTRA L2 and the other for the Flite x Marc Newson collection. The Red Dot Design Award, one of the world’s largest design competitions, says of the latter: “The eFoils of the Flite × Marc Newson series combine luxurious looks with the professionalism of high-performance sports equipment.”

After three years of relentlessly refining every detail, Flite x Marc Newson is receiving accolades as the recipient of multiple design awards, including iF Design Award, German Design Award and the Australian Good Design Awards.
“I really felt that it deserved design and engineering that reflected the experience that you’re having when you’re riding a board. It’s a moment where time stands still and you’re doing something that’s magical – and maybe not real – yet it is happening. It was about trying to capture that with the design and technology behind it, and seeing how far we could take it.”
- David Trewern, Flite Founder
Craftsmanship at its finest
Flite x Marc Newson eFoils are crafted almost entirely from Japanese high modulus pre-preg (HMPP) carbon fibre/fiber, bonded in a state-of-the-art autoclave for incredible strength-to-weight ratio. The streamlined monocoque design, integrating the mast and fuselage, ensures exceptional hydrodynamic efficiency. The ultra-light, stiff board offers seamless transitions between powered and unpowered riding, delivering unmatched agility and control. It’s a technological work of art.
A collection of three
Riders can choose from three setups, all designed with different audiences in mind, with one common thread: a desire to own the most premium Fliteboard eFoil. MN86 was created for all types of riders, while MN60 is for advanced or lighter weight riders, and MN60 Wave is for advanced wave riders. All three reflect Newson’s resolved design ideology, where form follows function.

ULTRA L2
Flite’s other Red Dot winner, was praised by the jury for its “streamlined design, maximum lightness and perfectly integrated compact components [that] characterise the ULTRA L2 eFoil.” The world’s lightest production eFoil features the world’s smallest, lowest drag production propulsion system. Designed for advanced wave riders, ULTRA L2 blurs the line between eFoil and surf foil.
In search of good design
The Red Dot Label has become established internationally as one of the most sought-after marks of quality for good design. In order to appraise the diversity in this field in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into three disciplines. Flite was awarded within the ‘Product Design’ discipline, in the Water Sports & Equipment category. This is not Flite’s first win, with a ‘best of the best’ win in 2020.
